]]>
Nike continues to honor the legendary Kobe Bryant with the upcoming release of the Kobe 4 Protro "Girl Dad." This brand-new colorway is a heartfelt tribute to Kobe's daughters, showcasing a design that blends vibrant aesthetics with a poignant narrative.

The Nike Kobe 4 Protro "Girl Dad" stands out with its eye-catching "Bicoastal" green suede upper. The sneaker's sleek look is further accentuated by the black Swoosh overlays and matching black laces, creating a striking contrast against the vivid green backdrop.

Adding a touch of sophistication, the "Metallic Silver" heel counters feature Kobe Bryant's signature. This detail serves as a reminder of Kobe's enduring legacy in the world of basketball and beyond. The padded tongues of the sneaker are adorned with Kobe logos embroidered on the front, while on the back the words "Girl Dad" are embroidered in a graceful script font.

The design isn't just about looks; it's also engineered for performance. The "Bicoastal" foam midsole units house the sneaker's Zoom Air technology, ensuring maximum comfort and responsiveness on the court. Completing the design are the icy, semi-translucent rubber outsoles.

Will you be looking to add this pair to your Kobe collection? The Nike Kobe 4 Protro “Girl Dad” will be available on Friday, June 7th, in-store and online at DTLR.com in men’s sizes.

]]>
Last year, Nike released an Air Force 1 Low inspired by everyone’s favorite family card game, UNO. And this year, it looks like we’ll be getting a new Air Force 1 Low that takes cues from another iconic children’s toy, the Rubik’s Cube.

Aptly dubbed the “Rubik’s Cube” Nike Air Force 1 Low, this upcoming colorway pays homage to the beloved 3-D puzzle designed by Hungarian architecture professor Ernõ Rubik in 1974. The sneaker opts for a stark-white leather base, highlighted by colorful leather panels. The mudguards are given a deep red tone, the eyestays are done in yellow, and the lateral heel panels boast a bold blue hue.

In a fun twist, Nike opts for orange paneling on the medial heels instead of the blue used for the lateral heels. Green leather heel tabs display “Nike Air” embroidered in white, while bright yellow leather strips are laid down the backs of the sneakers. The signature Swoosh overlays are done in white leather and feature red contrast stitching – the tongue tabs mimic this color combination.

White rubber midsole units display orange “Air” lettering on the lateral sides, denoting the presence of encased Air cushioning. Black rubber outsoles complete the colorful design.

The Nike Air Force 1 Low “Rubik’s Cube” is now available on DTLR.com and at DTLR stores.

The upcoming release of the Nike Dunk Low "Split Chicago" is set to be a major highlight for sneakerheads and collectors this year. Paying homage to the OG Air Jordan 1 "Chicago," this fresh colorway brings a new twist to the ubiquitous Dunk silhouette.

The "Split Chicago" Dunk Low boasts a white leather upper with bright “University Red” leather overlays on the mudguards, eyestays, and heels. However, what truly sets this iteration apart is the bold split design applied to the side-panel Swoosh overlays. The front halves come in black, while the back halves are dressed in pristine white.

Down below, rubber midsole units come in a clean "Sail" color. This choice complements the white upper, providing a subtle contrast that enhances the overall look. The outsoles utilize a captivating blend of "Light Silver" and black, completing the look.

Looking to cop? The Nike Dunk Low “Split Chicago” will be available July 15th on DTLR.com and DTLR stores for a retail price of $130.

]]>
Back in the early days of Nike’s Air Max line, the sneakers were marketed as performance running models to high-level athletes. Yes, people actually ran in Air Maxes – crazy, I know. But things have changed since then. With Nike turning to foams like ZoomX and React for its running sneakers, Max Air seemingly isn’t as useful as it once was.

That’s not to say that Air Max died out. On the contrary – it’s only grown in popularity. But why? It’s because the Beaverton-based sportswear brand transitioned Air Max into a lifestyle sneaker line and left performance to the Running division.

Later this month, the brand is set to release a brand-new lifestyle Air Max model called the Nike Air Max Solo. Its design draws from Air Max models past and present, featuring a see-through mesh upper with synthetic suede and leather overlays. The mesh tongues are plush with padding and feature Air Max–branded badges.

Nike Air logos are printed on the heels, which nod to the bulbous Max Air units down below. They sit inside stacked foam midsole units that feature sculpting on the heel and forefoot sections. Rubber outsoles with Nike’s signature waffle tread complete the look.

Want a pair? The new Nike Air Max Solo will be available July 13th on DTLR.com and DTLR stores in men’s sizing. Retail is set at $100.

Ja Morant’s play on the court is nothing short of electrifying, and his stats back that up. In his short NBA career, the explosive point guard has managed to earn the league’s Rookie of the Year honors, was named the Most Improved Player, and has been selected to an All-Star team. So, it’s no surprise that Nike would fast-track the burgeoning superstar to receive a signature sneaker model. And that’s exactly what happened.

The highly-anticipated Nike Ja 1 is Ja Morant’s first signature basketball model with the brand. It has seen a small number of shock drops since being unveiled earlier this year, but now it’s finally set to release in earnest.

This upcoming colorway sports a breathable open-celled mesh upper in a light “Cobalt Blue” tone. Similarly-colored leather appears on the mudguards and side panels, which add structure for quick lateral movements. From there, TPU Swoosh overlays in a gradient color scheme wrap around the sneaker.

Padded leather tongues display Nike’s new “Ja” logos, while Morant’s jersey number is embroidered onto the heels. Additionally, the colorway features textile heel panels that have “12:AM” repeated throughout the design.

Moving towards the sole, you’ll find bright yellow foam midsole units, which house Zoom Air cushioning in the forefoot portions. Pink rubber outsoles tie it all together.

Want a pair? The Nike Ja 1 “Cobalt Bliss” will be available on DTLR.com and DTLR stores on April 19th in men’s sizing.

More

]]>
Christian Tresser’s Nike Air Max 97 is an amalgamation of the designer’s interests, observations, and surroundings. For example, the wavy patterns found on the sneaker’s upper are inspired by how water droplets radiate outward as they make contact with ponds. And more famously, the sneaker's inaugural colorway, the “Silver Bullet,” was influenced by the popular high-speed trains of Japan – that’s how the story goes, anyway.

Japanese bullet trains were certainly a point of reference for the Air Max 97’s original colorway, but it wasn’t the only one according to its designer. The shimmering finish on the “Silver Bullet” was largely influenced by the metallic mountain bike components of the ‘90s, like aluminum and polished titanium.

Regardless of its contentious backstory, the Air Max 97 “Silver Bullet” is easily one of the greatest colorways that the Air Max line has ever produced, and it’s set to hit shelves again later this month.

This upcoming rerelease stays true to the original with “Metallic Silver” mesh uppers and matching leather overlays. The tonal base is broken up by white leather piping and “Varsity Red” Swooshes, which appear on the sneaker’s lateral and medial sides, as well as the tongues.

The upper sits atop foam midsole units done in white, which house the model’s signature full-length Max Air units. This colorway is finished with standard rubber outsoles done in black and white.

Looking to own this piece of Air Max history? The Nike Air Max 97 “Silver Bullet” will be available on DTLR.com and DTLR stores on November 11th in men’s, women’s, and grade-school sizes.

Nike’s much more into treats than tricks when it comes to their Halloween-themed footwear. The Beaverton-based brand has a long-standing tradition of releasing spooky sneakers in honor of All Hallows Eve – from glow-in-the-dark Air Force 1s to mummy-themed SB Dunks – and this year we’ll see that tradition continue.

The brand is preparing to launch a new kids’-exclusive “Halloween” Dunk Low this October – one that’s far more wearable than the festive colorways of years past. This upcoming release forgoes the usual Halloween-themed imagery and instead features a cream-colored leather base with bright “Safety Orange” leather overlays.

Side-panel Swoosh overlays are done in black, as is the “Nike” lettering on the tongue tabs and heels. Rubber midsole units are done in a complementary cream tone and feature black contrast stitching. The celebratory colorway is complete with black rubber outsoles.

The Air Jordan 3 is a historically significant sneaker for many reasons, one of which being that it’s the model that made Michael Jordan continue his partnership with Nike. As the story goes, after the Air Jordan 2’s underwhelming reception, Nike enlisted sneaker-designer Tinker Hatfield to craft a silhouette that was tailored to Jordan’s exact specifications. In 1988, the brand released the Hatfield-designed Air Jordan 3, which came in four colorways: “White Cement,” “Black Cement,” “True Blue,” and “Fire Red.”

The original “Fire Red” colorway of the model has been rereleased twice since its initial launch – first in 2007 and later in 2013 – but never like this. This month, the Air Jordan 3 “Fire Red” is set to return in OG form, “Nike Air”–branding and all.
This upcoming retro stays true to the original release with tumbled leather uppers done in white. From there, “Cement Grey” elephant-print overlays appear at the toeboxes and heel panels. And, as previously mentioned, the heels come bearing “Nike Air” branding done in the titular “Fire Red” tone.

Additional “Fire Red” hits include the tongue’s embroidered Jumpman logos, the lowermost and uppermost eyelets, and perforated leather ankle-collar panels. The hot-red hue also covers majority of the foam midsole, while rubber outsoles are done in familiar “Cement Grey.”

Looking to get your hands on this piece of Jordan Brand history? The Air Jordan 3 “Fire Red” will be available on DTLR.com and DTLR stores on September 10th in full-family sizing.

Vincent “Bo” Jackson is often regarded as the greatest athlete to ever walk planet earth. At Auburn University, Bo became a decorated three-sport athlete. This led the Los Angeles Raiders to draft him first overall in the 1986 NFL Draft. That’s not all, though. That same year, Bo was drafted by the MLB’s Kansas City Royals. He played for both teams simultaneously, making him one of the only athletes to ever play two professional sports at the same time.

Bo was larger than life during his heyday, making it no surprise as to why he was the face of Nike’s Air SC Trainer High campaign in 1990. The cross-training silhouette (originally called the Nike Air SC Trainer III) was one of the most popular sneakers in the market upon its release. And because of its association to Bo Jackson, it has been ever since.

The model is perhaps best known in its OG “Auburn” form, but this month, Nike is set to rerelease the Air SC Trainer High in a scheme that nods to Bo’s tenure with the Raiders.

The upcoming Nike Air SC Trainer High “Raiders” features a perforated-leather upper done in black, with matching nubuck and smooth-leather overlays. Lateral side panels come covered in light-grey Swoosh overlays, as well as similarly colored midfoot straps, which also grace the medial sides. Additional branding includes bold “Nike” lettering on the tongues and the heels.

Moving towards the sole, you’ll find white foam midsoles which house visible Max Air units in the heels. The colorway is complete with milky, semi-translucent rubber outsoles.

Want a pair? They’ll be available on DTLR.com and DTLR stores on September 11th in men’s and grade-school sizing.

‘90s hoops heads have long awaited the return of the original “Orlando” Nike Air Max Penny 1. The Magic-themed colorway was initially launched in 1995 – one year after Penny Hardaway’s inaugural season in the Association – and last hit shelves in 2011.

Luckily, fans of the model won’t have to wait much longer, as it is set to return soon in all its OG glory.

In terms of materials, the sneaker utilizes black nubuck, which covers the majority of the upper. It is adorned with contrast stitching and Hardaway’s signature “1 Cent” logo at the heels.

The foam midsoles are done in a split black-and-white fashion, with the latter color creeping up onto the lateral side panel. A patterned jewel-Swoosh done in “Varsity Royal” is laid atop the white foam for added contrast. The black portion of the midsole is visible on the medial side of the shoe, as well as on the heels, where it envelops a visible Max Air unit.

Additional details include a ghillie lacing system, inverted Swoosh embroidery at the tongues, and striped heel and tongue tabs.

The Nike Air Max Penny 1 “Orlando” will be available at select DTLR stores only on August 11th for a retail price of $170.

There’s no place like home – there’s no colorway like it either. The Nike Air Max Penny 1 has seen many retro releases since its initial launch in 1995, but never in its classic “Home” colorway. That’s about to change this August.

The model is gearing up to have a strong showing in 2022, with the recent release of Social Status’ Air Max Penny 1 “Recess” collaboration turning younger collectors onto the model, and a retro of the classic “Orlando” colorway coming down the pipeline. So, it’s only right that Nike should pull this version out of the vault too.

This “Home” take mimics the Orlando Magic’s home jerseys from the ‘90s. It features pristine white leather uppers as well as white foam midsoles that make their way up the lateral and medial side panels. Lateral-side jewel Swoosh overlays are done in “Varsity Royal,” which matches the tongue’s Swoosh embroidery, pull-tab accents, and sockliners.

You’ll find Penny’s signature “1-cent” logo embroidered at the heel, which sits just above the model’s bulbous, visible Max Air unit. The colorway is capped off with rubber outsole units done in white.

The Boston Celtics are one of the National Basketball Association’s most storied franchises. In their more than 70-year history, the team from Beantown has claimed 17 NBA Championships, which leaves them tied with the Los Angeles Lakers for the most titles ever won by a franchise.

This past season, the team had a chance to secure their 18th Larry O’Brien Trophy. However, their efforts were thwarted by a seasoned Golden State Warriors team who shelved the C’s championship aspirations in 6 games.

That’s obviously not how the franchise wanted their season to end. But if it’s any consolation, there’s a new Nike Dunk coming that celebrates the team from Boston – they did win the Eastern Conference Finals, after all.

Set to land in grade-school sizing, the forthcoming Nike Dunk High “Celtics” dons the club’s classic green-and-white color scheme. The base is done in crisp white leather, with green leather overlaid at the forefoot, eyestays, and heels. The two-toned base is then offset by black Swoosh overlays, tongues, and laces.

The colorway is finished with midsoles made of white rubber, capped off by green rubber outsoles which are speckled with recycled Nike Grind.

The Nike Dunk Low “Celtics” will be available in-stores and online at DTLR.com July 7th in grade-school sizing. Retail is set at $100.

Get ready to lace up like Dr. Funk as Nike pays another tribute to the fictional basketball team, the Roswell Rayguns. We’ve seen Nike’s SB division pay homage twice now to the team with inspired SB Dunks, but now it’s time for Nike Basketball to have some fun. The Blazer Mid is the latest sneaker to get the Roswell treatment.

The Blazer Mid ’77 Rayguns is simple, yet full of details. The uppers are comprised of White leather with just a touch of Grey nubuck around the toe. Outside of that, the rest of the shoe is full of subtle color details. The stitching can’t be missed as the stitching throughout the entire sneaker resembles the famous Golden Yellow color of the Rayguns. The same Golden Yellow is used on the lateral Swoosh and tongue. I simply can’t just mention the swoosh without talking about the fact that the Golden Yellow swoosh is filled with small sequins that certainly stand out. On the contrary, the swoosh on the inside of the foot is Green leather without the bedazzle. Finishing off the shoe, the signature Green and Gold basketball logo is found towards the heal and NIKE stitched in White is atop a Raygun Orange heal. The creamy white midsole and sole give the sneaker that full throwback vibe to complete the look.

Luckily, you don’t have to travel to another dimension to get your hands on a pair of Raygun Blazers inspired by Dr. Funk and the Roswell Rayguns. All you have to do is keep it locked in on our website for complete release and raffle information. Good luck and may the funk is with you.

The Nike Blazer Mid Rayguns land on earth this Friday, January 15th and will retail for $110.

To the casual fan, wearing mid-tops is not a big deal whatsoever. Some may even deem the cut type to be there to go favorite when looking to cop a new pair. For the avid sneakerheads that have a more active pulse on the culture, you know that mid-tops are for the birds. Most believe that either going high or low is the only two options needed. That happy medium of mid-top is a niche that most sneakers haven’t cracked due to this mental metric. While thinking vigorously in my content corner, I came up with a quick list of mid-tops that has made a mark in the culture.

Nike Air Force 1 Mid ‘07

During a time where fitted caps and throwback jerseys reigned supreme, the AF1 was and still is held in high regard. Within this golden era of baggy clothes and long chains, the mid-top was a go-to sneaker with its simplistic build and iconic Nike ankle strap. As the era came and went, so did the momentum of the AF1 mid-top. Whether they make another wave or not, its splash on the urban scene left permanent watermarks on the game.

Reebok Question Mid

Allen Iverson broke plenty of court records on the court wearing this mid. While Allen stood at 6 feet, his stature compared to NBA standards is fairly small. Having the presence of mind while designing, Reebok made a ‘Question Low’ and ‘Question Mid’ only. Not making a hi-top version now only shifted the culture, but made it clear that the need to fulfill Iverson's needs as a player stood ahead of industry norms. It is mid-cut construction has a cool embroidery stitching around the outsole plugs that makes it stylish. Its full-grain leather and chunky midsole have made the ‘Question Mid’ a gem in Reebok’s archive box.

Adidas Hoops 2.0 Mid

Now, this honorable mention comes from a lot of casual sneakerheads who are more concerned with functionality than appearance. Often, I would see folks from all walks of life wear this sneaker to do everyday tasks despite its purpose of hooping.

What is your favorite mid-top of all time? Comment below what you believe is the greatest to ever land on feet.

I may be dating myself, but I recall a cartoon called, “Captain Planet” back in the ’90s. The blue and green superhero for some strange reason relied on his courageous team of kids to help him battle against pollution on Earth. Initially, I felt like my contributions could make a difference and ultimately change the globe for the better. Unfortunately, it takes more than just one person to make such changes occur. Today, we are living on a globe that is filled with waste that is destroying forests, bodies of water, and our overall ecosystem. Valuable (yet corny) after-school episodes are now rearing their ugly head in real life. With the unbearable amount of waste dwindling our clean environment, companies are now finding creative ways to do their part.

Nike for example is doing their part by establishing ‘Nike Sustainability’ which is fully committed to the goal of zero carbon and zero waste by developing recycled shoes and clothing. The Nike Flyknit is engineered by using 60% less waste than typical materials used to make kicks. From turning millions of water bottles to build out the upper of this innovative model, Nike is pushing the envelope by using recycled polyester and organic cotton materials to make the sneaker. As more and more individuals are being eco-conscious to live a go green lifestyle, you can imagine the anticipation for the brand new ‘Nike Vapormax Flyknit 2021’.

Having the best of both worlds, this sneaker is eco-friendly and has an imperial design that doesn’t compromise the style nor planet. The digitized text of ‘Vapormax’ is prominently seen on the elevated pull tabs. Upgraded from last year's iteration, the shoe is equipped with a ‘Flyease’ tightening system for the cross country runner looking for security with every stride. Speaking of security, the sock liner is perfect for feeling stable while on concrete sidewalks or vigorous terrain alike. Bright white eye-stays compliment the metallic grey upper, while black insoles provide contrast within. Following suit is the legendary ‘Swoosh’ that shares a white shell alongside the black outline. Recycled regrind rubber was used to help build out the translucent Vapormax cushioning unit at the bottom for needed traction and create texture. With a marble finish on the heel clips and toe caps, this model lives up to the hype for sure.

As Air Force Ones and Retro Air Jordan 1’s have kept the classic style relevant, the emergence of Nike Dunks has been making waves on the scene. Slated to make an early appearance on the Nike Sportswear 2021 lineup, the “UNLV” is ready to bring back a college fan favorite. This scholastic iteration was modeled after the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Dating back to 1985, the original release was one silhouette out of the “Be There To Your School” series, that is now segmented into a solo offering this go around. In the original series release, the silhouette was a hi-top model, which now is getting cut down to a Dunk low level. As the upper has a Grey base, University Red leather overlays perfectly atop. Directly underneath is the White midsole and Red outsole combination, color blocking well on the Air constructed rubber. Tongue logo fits its memorable capitalized font, while the Grey ‘NIKE’ heels ensure brand recognition is in full effect. Whether you enjoy a football game or a comfortable sneaker on your feet, this is a must cop to start the year off right.

The raffle for the Nike Dunk Low “UNLV” is now open.

Vapormax has a following that runs off of advanced technology and innovative movement using an assortment of fabrics, unlike its predecessors. Yet in still, Nike labs take pride in searching through field archives to bring back notable features to newly created models. Well, Vapormax is starting to have their elaborate colorways spark an interest in new runners looking for cool to match comfort. Since the signature series has made its presence felt in the scientific space, it looks to take further steps into the design due to its recent attraction.

Building aesthetic merit with a targeted audience is what will turn a bland colorway into a holy grail. A recent drop that put people up on notice was the “Evolution of Icons” pack, which displayed the versatility Vapormax truly has. The “What The?!” series by Nike is another coveted design style that has taken shape on countless catalogs of sneaker models throughout the decades. This time, creators looked to Air Max’s glorious past for inspiration, leaving hidden gems with each feature. From the Air Max 90 “Warhawk” & “Lunar Landing” graphic overlays, down to its tanned snakeskin mudguard, this assortment of fabrics is an eye-catching masterpiece. To guarantee “Vapor” is primary, Metallic Silver cross with textured Black from the collar lining, down to the quarter panel. Last but not least, a clear rubber outsole with a cloudy marble finish makes the sight complete. If you missed out on all of the fire Air Max releases, here’s your chance to play catch up by copping this pair.

The Nike Vapormax EVO NRG “Collector’s Closet” release on 02/18/2021 and retail for $200 USD.

Everyone has that certain something inside that keeps them going. Now more than ever it’s important to not lose focus on the things that make you who you are. The idea to “Just Do It.” is a powerful one that can lead to greatness. Join us as we share the stories of unique individuals within our communities and what drives them to succeed for not just themselves, but the people around them.

Who are you and how did you get started in music?

I’m Armani White, I grew up in a musical family, all of my uncles and grandfathers played instruments. I always wanted to pick up an instrument but never got around to it. I sort of picked up rap as a hobby at first but then I saw the artistic side of it and then started focusing more on it to amplify my voice.

Any upcoming projects?

Nothing too specific, I’m tying up a capsule that narrates everything I’ve gone through personally through the pandemic. Right now we’re wrapping up a few records and just focusing on dropping more new music. It’s the first time I’ve been home for this long of a period so I’m just trying to create as much as I can.

What’s keeping you motivated right now?

Definitely the creative process, having the time to make as much as I want to make with no pressure. When the world is open you feel like you’re racing, when the world is still you feel a lot more freedom. It feels more liberating to create during these times.

What have you been doing during the Pandemic?

Stocking up content has been key during the pandemic. Focusing on direct to consumer strategies. I started selling so much merch at the beginning of the pandemic selling and shipping out all product myself to my fans and supporters.

Any words of advice to people in your community?

Be colorful, take your pain and throw it at the wall. If it’s a big ball of red watch a rainbow come out. Take the pain and trauma you’ve had, throw it at the wall and watch something beautiful come out of it. Be colorful.

Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Mo, I'm 30 years old and I'm a photographer and curator from Philly! I shoot anything from concerts to weddings to portraits to nightlife to BTS photos for films & music videos. I like to mix it up but I definitely focus on portrait photography.

Describe a normal “Day in the Life” for you currently?

So I just got back from shooting still photography for M. Night Shyamalan's next film in the Domican Republic! It was an amazing experience but also a lot of work so with all the covid craziness here, I've had a lot of down time since getting back. It's easy to want to jump right into the next thing, but I'm making myself relax for the time being. I've been spending most of my days planning future projects and getting ready for 2021.

Could you name the one personal trait or aspect of your life that keeps you going everyday?

I think what really keeps me going is my intense fear of not living up to my potential. There's really nothing worse than wasted potential to me. I spend a lot of time getting in my head and psyching myself out so I just gotta remind myself every day that I'm in control of where my life and career go and if I keep putting in the work, I'll end up where I'm supposed to!

Are you currently working on any projects?

I'm definitely trying to take advantage of all this lockdown time and start planning the next Time To Pretend, which is an all women's art show that I host and curate biannually! Our 7th show was supposed to be this past March, but it had to be postponed so I'm definitely trying to make this next show the biggest one yet! Every show has 10-16 female artists from the Philly area as well as 20+ female owned small business vendors so it's just an awesome opportunity to empower women and give female artists a platform to share their work with the city.

If you could pass on any advice or words of inspiration to your community, what would it be?

Do you. We spend so much time on social media comparing our work and our careers and our lives to everyone else's and it's such a waste of time. Social media is fake, everyone is just flexin for the gram and honestly, at the end of the day, we're all on our own journeys anyway! There's no point in worrying about what everyone is doing, so focus on your craft and just do you!

As we remain put in the comfort of our homes, we continue to flatten the curve of COVID-19. Staying home might look different to a lot of people, but for us, it means staying connected. Our "Home Check-In" initiative is encouraging individuals to contribute to the better well-being of the world by staying home and staying fresh. We're asking you to showcase your favorite Nike fits in creative and original ways. Show off your Swoosh in style.

Tell us a little bit about yourself...

My name is Nick Girlando. I'm a New York native, born and raised in Queens and currently based in Downtown Brooklyn working as a full-time sales rep and photographer on the side. I'm also a sneaker collector with 20+ years of experience. Growing up by the beach in Rockaway, I started skateboarding at a very young age. Skateboarding was a gateway to the sneaker world, the fashion industry, and photography.

What has been your daily quarantine routine?

My daily routine has pretty much been wake up, make coffee and breakfast. I'll turn on the news to watch Governor Cuomo speak and then jump into some work, make a few phone calls checking in on my clients, friends, and family. Maybe a facetime or two. I'll cook lunch and then read or try to do something mellow for a few hours. I've been doing home workouts every day in the apartment or on the rooftop depending on the weather. I'll cook dinner around 8pm and then wind down with some Netflix or a movie. In the beginning, I was a little bit shook on what I would do being home for so long but I grew into a routine that's pretty much been the same every day. It makes time go by and keeps me from going stir crazy.

What activities have you been doing during these times?

I've been able to do some things that I normally wouldn't have as much time or energy for normal circumstances. I've been cooking a lot more than usual. Pretty much 2-3 times a day. I've had time to learn new recipes and try new types of food. I've been reading a little bit here and there. I've definitely watched more TV than I normally would. I have never really been a TV guy because I can't sit still for too long. I've done a few jigsaw puzzles. I've been trying to go for the 1,000 piece ones the most but they haven't been that easy to find. I've had time to work on a brand I am starting too. That's always been a goal of mine but I haven't had the time to get creative or focus on the mission and meaning behind it. Now has been a perfect time. I guess lastly, working out has been a big one for me. I was usually a gym person but I've had to learn how to adapt like all of us. I've taken up running and Higher intensity workouts. Man, those will whip you into shape if you do it every day.

What kind of food have you been cooking?

I've been cooking a mix of different things and types of food. I've been trying to keep it healthy since we're spending so much time being sedentary. I've put together a bunch of new salads and different vegetable dishes. A few chicken recipes. I think I've perfected Boneless wings now. I've done a few different steak options with different marinades. Also, I've been cooking a ton of Mexican food. I've always made different types of tacos but I've taken it a step further and made Enchiladas, Chilaquiles, and even Huevos Rancheros for breakfast. I try to save my Italian food nights for Friday's or Sunday's. Sundays have always been a tradition to make a good sauce. A Sunday Sauce. Nothing better than that.

What are you currently watching/listening to? (Movies? Podcasts? Music?)

I was never really a podcast person before this and I still wouldn't call myself one. Probably because I can't focus on it for too long because of the lack of visual stimulation. But I've had a chance to listen to a few. I try to stay connected to what's happening in Fashion, the Economy, and even Real Estate. Just to be informed and have a vision of how these things will affect our future. I breezed through season 3 of Ozark, it was fire. I binge-watched two seasons of Westworld and I am currently midway through season 3. MJ's the Last Dance pretty much saved my Sunday nights. That has been incredible to relive his career and even see and hear those stories about that era of basketball that seemed like an urban legend until now. In terms of music, my taste is all over the board. My Spotify must be confused because they never know what I'm going to throw at them. I start my days with Coffee Shop mellow music and by lunch, I'm listening to Bad Bunny, J Balvin, Saint Jhn, Travis Scott, Post Malone or might even throw it back and put on some The Lox or Styles P. At night I've actually really enjoyed a few different Dj sets via Instagram Live. Questlove always kills it, I could listen to him spin all day.

Any advice to someone who is having a hard time being productive?

Take a minute to slow down. Gather your thoughts. While the streets are quiet and your normal routine is thrown off, there's still so much noise out there. Whether it be the news, Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter. Sometimes you have to block it all out. I have found that I shut everything down and try to read or focus on something else. Maybe a puzzle even. Complete silence and a slower pace will get you grounded so you can get your head clear and ready to create a plan of attack. I do my best thinking at night when all the hecticness of the day has passed.

Who are you and how did you get started playing basketball?

I am Winston Robinson and I got started playing basketball by watching my older Brothers around the age 4-5. Growing up in the inner city of Philadelphia it was one of the only outlets. It's lead me to travel the world and meet others that share the same ideas and passions.

What has basketball done for you mentally?

Basketball saved my life by changing my mental fortitude. It made me optimistic but also confident. It installed perseverance but also a mental safe haven, an outlet from my toxic environment.

What keeps you motivated?

My spiritual attachment to god, My friends and family. My competitive nature to be better than who I was yesterday.

Any message people in your community during this time?

A message to my community during these times would be to stay together because we need each other more than ever. To keep in mind that we are all in it together and to push each other for better, like teammates and not as enemies. Love each other and invest in the youth so they are more knowledgeable and to avoid the mistakes we’ve made.

Everyone has that certain something inside that keeps them going. Now more than ever it’s important to not lose focus on the things that make you who you are. The idea to "Just Do It." is a powerful one that can lead to greatness. Join us as we share the stories of unique individuals within our communities and what drives them to succeed for not just themselves, but the people around them. This is Gregory Coachman's Daily Drive.

Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Gregory Coachman. I am the owner of Urban Recreation, a real estate investment and lifestyle brand, as well as a fitness professional.

Describe a normal “Day in the Life” for you currently?

I start my day with breakfast with my girlfriend, then jog or some sort of other exercising to get my body and mind working. Afterward, I may meet with a few clients. Later in the day, I will usually see some friends or have phone discussions about what we all are processing and experiencing in our lives. That usually leads me to sit with a cup of coffee while I work on whatever ideas I've been thinking of. I try not to allow a day to pass without researching something related to my dreams, even if it's just a google search. My nights end pretty early with me eating dinner with my girl and conversations about today and tomorrow.

Could you name the one personal trait or aspect of your life that keeps you going every day?

Resilience. Throughout my life, I've usually outlasted and out hustled others.

Are you currently working on any projects?

Currently, I'm really focusing on Urban Recreation. I am developing products I personally love and enjoy, whether it be a t-shirt, sweatsuit, even accessories, and houseware. Urban Recreation will always be a real estate company at its core but encompasses much more. A cafe housing all my products is the end goal. I also just recently began a new real estate company with friends, Walls & Bridges, and we closed our first deal in Chicago this week.

If you could pass on any advice or words of inspiration to your community, what would it be?

My advice is to don't allow others' limitations to become yours. Your dreams and goals belong to you. It's not up to anyone else to tell you whether they're achievable or if you're capable or not. There will always be whispers of doubt, but you silence those whispers with consistency and drive.

After years of playing professionally in the NBA, LeBron James has had his fair share of changes. From Cleveland to Miami (and back to Cleveland), who would’ve thought that he would next go to Los Angeles? With Bron’s 17th season underway, Nike is changing the game by releasing a retro that just became one last year.

Bron’s sixteenth signature shoe has more of a sleek appeal in comparison to its predecessors. Most of the models tend to be higher by design to fit his locomotive physique. Not only was there a change for him, but also in how Nike is creating new foot innovations. Nike decided to install and debut the Battleknit 2.0 construction to improve on cushioning.

The Nike LeBron XVI is out on 01/24 on www.dtlr.comand at local DTLR/VILLA locations.

Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Raheim and I’m a visual artist. Meaning, I try to create imagery that will evoke emotions.

Describe a normal “Day in the Life” for you currently?

Since Covid, I wouldn’t say anything is normal right now. Haha. But everyday I wake up, get breakfast started for my wife and daughter. We’re home schooling right now, so I help her get prepared every morning. Helping her with homework at the end of her day. Start the preparations for dinner and ideally head out to link a friend or to go and make images. Come home and do a varied version of that the next day.

Are you currently working on any projects?

Currently I’m working on a couple of projects. I have some Merch and brand stuff coming out. Working on finishing my web site. And of course a bunch of concept work.

If you could pass on any advice or words of inspiration to your community, what would it be?

I would tell my community to always think big and dream big. Think more of yourself. Don’t be afraid to fail. Get up and keep going. Hard work is always reciprocated over time. You can do anything you want as long as you are true to yourself.

https://www.dtlr.com/blogs/the-lifestyle/set-to-drop-nike-air-foamposite-one-black-anthracite 2020-10-13T00:00:00-04:00 2022-10-11T14:16:04-04:00 Set To Drop: Nike Air Foamposite One “Black Anthracite” LaMon Byrams

Nike made it practically impossible to not fall in love with the Foamposite. Genius marketing turned a silent assassin into a household name. Back in 1997, Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway was emerging as one of the NBA’s brightest stars in the league. But it was the hilarious collection of ‘Lil penny’ commercials that had my eyes glued to the tube. Comedian powerhouse Chris Rock played the tiny figurine, whose main objective is to say and do everything the real “Penny” doesn’t do. Once the Foamposite One was released, it definitely was and still is considered a game-changer.

Behind the Design

The idea of ‘Foamposite’ anything was foreign to the sneaker industry at the time. In fact, Penny was the first to have a shoe that features such as innovative technology. Today, the colorways released using this vary silhouette feels endless. It was a pleasant surprise to have “Anthracite” make a comeback. First released back in 2007, the colorway had a hiatus from store shelves despite a successful Quickstrike.

This upcoming release followed the original blueprint, giving the new generation sneakerhead an opportunity to cop the notorious “Blackout” versions. Fitting to the nickname, the shoe is dressed in an assortment of Black and Anthracite combined. The shimmering Black shell is still wavy as ever. The outsole immediately underneath is sturdy with round rubber pockets for extensive grip. Suede outlines the eyestay, with mesh covering the collar and lining inside. Last but definitely not least accents of the mini check are spotted near the toe box, with ‘1 cent’ stamped on the mustache and outsole.

https://www.dtlr.com/blogs/the-lifestyle/a-detailed-look-at-the-air-max-90-home-and-away 2020-10-06T00:00:00-04:00 2022-10-11T14:15:28-04:00 A detailed look at the Air Max 90 "Home" and "Away" Will Hardison

If you’re a fan of the Air Jordan line, chances are you already know that the man behind a majority of the Jordan designs is the same mastermind behind the Air Max 90. Yes, Tinker Hatfield gets the credit for designing yet another timeless sneaker that is still just as popular today as the day it originally released 30 years ago.

The Air Max 90 was originally known as the Air Max III as it was the 3rd edition in the Air Max lineup. It wasn’t until the 2000s before it became known as the Air Max 90. Believe it or not, the Air Max 90 was actually designed to be a running shoe, but over time it’s become a must-have casual sneaker in every sneakerhead’s collection. To celebrate its 30th anniversary Nike is delivering two pairs on June 6th known as “Home” and “Away” in Safety Orange and Royal Blue paying tribute to Baltimore.

Royal Blue

Cream-colored leather, which is said to rub away after casual wear, wrap the forefoot and side paneling while a dark navy is used in contrast to the ankle collars and mudguards. The midsole, heel counters, Air Max Panel, Air Unit window, lace stays as well as the jeweled Swooshes show off a more royal blue color to help give the shoe a punch of color. Finally, and to give the shoe a more casual and street look, a gum outsole is used to complete the look.

Safety Orange

The same creamy leather is used around the forefoot and side paneling and is contrasted with black for the suede mudguards, mesh tongue, and collar. Safety Orange is used on the eyelets, laces, heel counter, Air Max Panel, Air Unit window, and again on the jeweled swooshes. Keeping with the same casual look at the Royal Blue pair, the Safety Orange colorway also features a gum outsole.

Both pairs feature compass-inspired tongues that read “Home” and “Away” on the right and left foot, respectively.
