Even after 20 plus years of sitting in their original box, I can still smell the tire rubber used on the original Air Jordan 14 black toes. In fact, the 14’s are personally one of my favorite Jordan designs in the lineup. Every detail of this shoe is sleek and aggressive with a hint of luxury. Of course, this is due to the fact that the Air Jordan XIV is inspired by the Ferrari 550 M luxury supercar. (Now the tire rubber makes sense.) On July 2nd, the 14 is back in a brand-new bold “Gym Red” colorway.

It’ll be hard to miss this shoe on the shelves as the uppers are comprised of Gym Red suede/nubuck and are contrasted by Black toes, tongues, mudguards, and soles. White midsoles add a nice separation between the two contrasting colors. A Ferrari-inspired Jumpman logo on the lateral ankle screams luxury sportscar. Black tire tread rubber runs along the heel and is offset by a large White Jumpman logo and the number 23.

While not an original colorway of the Air Jordan XIV family, the Gym Red pair is a great addition to the model that Jordan wore last as a Chicago Bull.

The Air Jordan Retro 14 'Gym Red' will be available online and in-stores Thursday, July 2, 2020.

This Air Jordan silhouette is dressed in red and white.

The Air Jordan 9 originally released in 1993-94 and was designed by Tinker Hatfield. It was the first model to be released when Michael Jordan retired from professional basketball to pursue a new career in baseball. Part of the Air Jordan line, the Air Jordan 9 has undergone several memorable color schemes over the years. The Air Jordan 9 "Gym Red" hopes to add to the legacy that is the Air Jordan 9.

Many of Nike and Jordan's signature shoes feature the iconic colorway of red, white, and black. The Chicago 1s and OG Air Max 1s come to mind. Similarly, this Air Jordan 9 "Gym Red" is dressed in a white, gym red, and black color scheme. This Air Jordan 9 features a white leather upper with red patent leather overlays. There is black detailing on the eyelets, tongue, back pull tab, and Jumpman branding atop a white rubber sole. On the backside, "23" is highlighted in a bright white.

The Air Jordan 9 "Gym Red" will be released Saturday October 5th in-stores and online at www.dtlr.com.
