Some of you know the model as a performance running sneaker. Others see the silhouette as a “dad shoe.” And for those around the DMV area, the sneaker is synonymous with hustlers – those who work tirelessly, on and off the clock. But no matter which way you slice it, there’s no denying that the 990v3 is a grail model in sneaker culture.
This upcoming iteration balances the scales for the hustlers, runners, and dad-shoe heads, celebrating the spectrum of New Balance heritage with a grey color palette that everyone can appreciate.
DTLR’s June Sanders developed this clean, simple take using multiple shades from the grey scale as an homage to the New Balance sneakers that started it all. The intricacies of the design come from the balance of suede and mesh on the upper, leather details on the tongue, and reflective accents that give the shoe its street appeal. Bright pops of red on the heels and secondary laces signify the bloodline that unites New Balance lovers across the globe.
Down below, ENCAP foam midsole units take on a split white-and-black scheme, while Ndurance rubber outsoles tie everything together via varying shades of grey.
The DTLR-exclusive 990v3 “GR3YSCALE” celebrates the fact that “Grey Runs in the Family.”
Looking to grab a pair? This release will be available on DTLR.com and DTLR stores on February 24th in full-family sizing.

DTLR is for the children. That’s why, when we teamed up with New Balance for a shop-exclusive 990v3, we came back with this kid-friendly colorway.
Dubbed the New Balance 990v3 “Wild Style,” this new iteration takes its inspiration from the unbound creativity that kids possess. Open any child’s school notebook and you’re sure to find some wildly imaginative doodles with out-there color combinations. This colorway boasts a palette that resembles those found in crayon boxes and colored-pencil cases – it’s our ode to those priceless pieces of art.
The upper is features a grey mesh base with colorful suede and leather panels laid over top. The side panels and mudguards are done in a “Vibrant Sky” suede, while the heel panels are done in rich “Vibrant Orange” suede. “Electric Red” leather overlays are placed at the toeboxes as well as the side panels, bordering the “Vibrant Yellow” “N” logo overlays.
That same yellow tone also informs the laces, which cover padded-mesh tongues done in “Vibrant Spring Green.” The color also appears on the sneaker’s leather heel panel. The uppermost eyestays and perforated leather heel panels are done in soft pink to compliment the “Vibrant Sky” hits, while a “Vibrant Violet” hue colors the sockliners and side-panel suede overlays.
Moving towards the sole, you’ll find foam midsoles that are blocked with the upper’s three most prominent colors. The release is complete with rubber outsoles done in two different shades of purple.
The New Balance 990v3 “Wild Style” will be available at DTLR.com and DTLR stores in grade-school, pre-school, and infant sizes.

While migrating to enjoy a quick getaway, the New Balance 990 was and still is the family favorite silhouette that walks the tropical streets of Florida in style. 3M reflection bounces off of the neon lights that fill nightclubs, shine on larger-than-life sports teams, and glow on endless hotties sunbathing at soft sandy beaches. All of these things are elements that feed the international infamy of 305’s Ocean Drive. Inspired by the vibrant city, the NB990 “Miami Drive” was created to be the unanimous pick for Memorial Day weekend.
The M990 silhouette in its third iteration is dressed in cool grey and Silver highlighting the double-stacked ‘N’ logo. Encap technology is multilayered to handle those long days of shopping and even longer nights of partying. Waves flowing seaside, rays from sunshine, and neon lights bring 3 colors that are synonymous with Miami life. Tidepool, dynamic orange and solar pink is a pack of popping hues that are instantly eye-catching. A real eye-catcher is the dual split outsole which is a wow factor that commands attention walking down the block. We can keep the classic greys for local errands now that we have a fresh new colorway designed to commemorate the lives strip around.
We were delighted to host an exclusive event to celebrate the launch of our newest men's boxer briefs, SAXX. This collaborated celebration provided our community with a night to remember-- signature SAXX-themed beverages, delicious appetizers, amazing music from DJ Diamond Kutz, a pair of the world's most comforterable underwear for our guests, and a raw and honest conversation about men's underwear from our hilarious panel. DTLR's own Ty Davis, podcast host and comedian Syd Washington, and actress Dee Nasty used their genius comedy as a comfortable way to talk about a sometimes uncomfortable topic; balls.
SAXX was designed in 2006 as a way to deliver revolutionary comfort every step of the way. Our panel, while educating our guests on the benefits of SAXX's equipped BallPark Pouch and its super-soft and supportive 3D pouch for men, was also successful in delivering the benefits for women as well. Why should the men get all the fun, right ladies!?
The event created an environment full of laughter and good energy. We're still relishing in all the praise of SAXX's comfort, incredible prints, and innovative branding. Check out photos from the event below:
While walking down the streets of New York City, Andre is reminiscent of his home in Paris, France. Dripped in a cozy fleece hoodie, fleece jogger pants, a long wool peacoat and some blazing Orange Timberland Boots.
Andre considers himself a one-man force of nature. Not only is his style versatile for the colder months ahead, but you can find him mixing beats from classical Mozart to Travis Scott. His stylish taste is minimal, simple but with a touch of bold accents. In his spacetime, he creates artwork for local NYC cafes and coffee shops. He draws inspiration from his favorite artists like Basquiat, Monet and Degas. Like his inspirations, he likes the idea of making a masterpiece from a blank canvas. Andre remains a torrential force of innovation in a rather distracting world. Despite this, he considers himself laid-back. His approach to personal style can speak on that.
As his exits the Cafe Leon Dore on Mulberry Street, he capes his peacoat in a whimsical manner, grabs his rib-cuff beanie and heads towards his Soho loft apartment. The waterproof seam-sealed construction from his Orange Blaze Timberland Boots perfectly keep his feet dry and warm from the cold, light snowfall. Like his current mood, these boots can weather any storm. Andre reaches his apartment, undoes his tan peacoat and starts to draw. Keeping his orange boots on for extra power and confidence.

My experience working with New Balance over the past several years has been nothing short of amazing. NB is a lifestyle brand that grasps the various stages, feelings, and needs of both passive and active participants of shoe culture. It is this aspect of NB that generates the most buy-in and connectivity for me. As a brand, they are always listening to the pulse of consumers and trusting designers like myself to pitch our concepts for not just the fashion of today but set the pace for the next wave of trends.
Simply, it was inspired by fun and family. The 990V5 ‘Fast Lane’ is the physical embodiment of a good time. The vibe of bowling is fun, competitive, silly, wholesome, high-stakes – it’s all around inclusive. Whether young or old, novice or professional, strangers or old friends, bowling brings you together. Nothing feels more at home than a bowling alley and my goal was to bring together these nostalgic opposites in a contemporary way. I gave the bowling shoe an elevated design of contrast colors and details so everyone can have a pair of the pastimes distinguishable shoe in their everyday life.
Before I physically start designing a shoe, I take time to think about the concept and develop a story to support that concept. I like to think of fashion as a silent film that needs to convey a message just by seeing it. This step takes the most time because there are so many avenues to choose and explore. The other component that I keep at the top of the list of design elements is the colorway. Colors create emotions and give the imaginary shoe on paper a life of its own where you can see it on someone’s foot with their favorite outfit and favorite people.
This is a really good question to ask a designer. I could really go either way with the answer to this. I would love to get my hands on my personal favorite NB silhouette, 992 to remix and put my own touches on. However, for the sake of challenging myself, my final answer is I would create a new concept shoe from scratch and see where my concepts, colors choices, and imagination takes me.

Tim is a self taught photographer and graphic designer with a background in audio production. He comes from a long line of creatives and have always had a passion for art.
I’ve always been interested in photography and it the role it’s played in marketing; I started working as a graphic designer for a branding company based out of San Diego, and realized how integral photography was to the process so I decided to learn how to shoot. I bought my first DSLR in May, fell in love with portraiture and haven’t looked back since.
Champion is one those rare timeless brands that transcends social and cultural barriers. I wore a vintage Champion crewneck throughout college, and thought I was so cool because of it. I love that the brand has maintained its status as an essential streetwear staple, from the sneakers to the clothes. It’s both retro and futuristic, which is dope.
My dream creative collaboration would be with Pharrell Williams. I grew up skateboarding and making music and was always blown away by his creative genius. I think he’s a multidimensional visionary and that’s what I aspire to be.
My advice to anyone trying to break into the creative industry is to do what truly makes you happy. Every thing you create won’t resonate with everyone so instead of worrying about pleasing everyone, worry about doing what pleases you. Create your lane and own it!

The Under Armour Story:
Offering unbeatable support and comfort is just one way to describe Under Armour's longest-tenured tactical boots-- and Pacino "Chino" Braxton agrees.
Chino, a 21-year-old West Baltimore native and motocross athlete, has already overcome great adversity. Today, he is determined to do good and uplift his community, and has recently joined the Under Armour Sportstyle category as a Pioneer.
"It feels good coming from where I grew up to be an influence for the kids and to show them there's another way out," said Chino, "I turned my craft into a lane. If I can do it, they can, too."
His first initiative includes partnering with B360 Baltimore to provide youth with a vision of success and a path forward. The organization utilizes STEM education programming to help fight the cycle of poverty. Chino will donate a customized bike on Charity Network’s Charitybuzz platform, with all proceeds benefitting B360. Chino is featured as the face of two limited-edition colorways of the UA Valsetz – black/metallic silver and metallic silver/black. Pairs are available now for $125 on UA.com and the 25 DTLR locations across the DMV area. Photography for the retail campaign was captured in West Baltimore by heralded Baltimore photographer Devin Allen.
