Jordan Brand is kicking off the new year with an Air Jordan 13 Retro dressed mainly in Black with Court Purple accents. If you’ve been following along, you know that I’m a big fan of the Air Jordan 13’s. In my opinion, they are one of the most detailed Air Jordans in the entire lineup. The whiskers, pods, and hologram eyes just set this shoe apart. Tinker Hatfield has designed a lot of great silhouettes but the 13’s are some of his best work.

As I previously mentioned, this particular release features a predominately Black color scheme. The Black leather toe works back to Black reflective mesh uppers feature the cat-like dimples the 13’s are famous for. The suede tongue is also dressed in Black and the same goes for the sole and “pods” as I like to call them. The midsoles provide a pop of color dressing suede in Court Purple along with the lateral suede stripe running down the shoe and wrapping up by the heal. A Court Purple Jumpman on the tongue puts the finishing touches on this pair.

With a very similar color blocking to the original Black and Red (Bred) colorway, the Court Purple 13’s will not last long. When it comes to fashion, every break-out designer line or brand has its time to shine. Once that time elapsed, another style trend comes into the forefront to replace what was there prior. For a lot of brands, they never make a glorious comeback. While for others, they emerge from the archives to inspire the next generation to create something similar yet distinct for the newbies in the game. Brand Jordan has stood the test of time by looking into the past to make the present look fresher than ever.

For example, the Air Jordan 1 is considered an OG sneaker model that has sentimental value to old heads and young people alike. One of the models that possess the purple heart of war against time is the “Metallic Purple” colorway released back in 1985. Being a cool player exclusive at the time for Men's sizes back in the day is now a fire release for women in the revamped “Court Purple” colorway. The overall shoe is pristine White from the upper on down. Laced in durable leather, the texture can handle all footing possibilities on the hardwood, blacktop, and more. Inside of the shoe is a luxurious satin sock liner that provides a clear upgrade from its predecessor. Purple swooshes are checked to perfection with Jumpman wing logos that keep the original in the front of our minds, while on the back of the sneaker. Overall, this kick is a solid remix that didn’t disgrace what has been made previously. It’s finally time for the ladies to enjoy some of the purple power.

With so much going on in the world right now, people are looking for some normalcy and comfort to lift their spirits. While release dates have been moved around and rescheduled, there is no doubt that people have been marking their calendars for the releases they really want. JB started off their 2020 Retro 1 releases with the ’Satin’ Jordan 1 back in January and then brought out the heat during ASW with the Air Jordan 1 Hi 85, New Beginnings Pack and the Women’s UNC to Chicago pair and now they’re picking up right where they left off.

Next up for Jordan Brand is a new summer-ready Air Jordan Retro 1 High in a clean colorway that sneakerheads are geeked about. Court Purple takes over the silhouette in a very OG-Esque color blocking that doesn’t disappoint. While this isn’t the first time Jordan has blessed us with a Court Purple Retro 1, you may remember that back in 2018 they gave us a similar Retro but it came with Purple on the toe-box while this one features a more clean makeup with White on the toe-box and tongue. Now, if you missed out on the first pair you won’t want to miss this next release. This pair features a clean one-two punch of White and Court Purple throughout the upper and sole and is complimented with black detailing on the Wings logo and the Nike Air tab on the tongue.
