In the world of sneakers, things come and go, but they almost always come back. Your patience will be tested, but if you hold out long enough, you’ll eventually be greeted by that coveted pair you couldn’t get your hands on the first time around. And for those who’ve been waiting on the return of the “Ginger” Air Jordan 14, your time has finally come.
Unlike the OG “Ginger” from 1999, this retro release of the fan-favorite colorway returns in mid-cut form. It boasts a citrus-tinted nubuck upper done in the titular “Ginger” hue, with white leather overlays shrouding the toeboxes.
The upper is branded with Ferrari-inspired Jumpman emblems appear on the lateral sides and rubberized Jumpman logos and “23” hits at the heels. Tongues are done in black mesh and feature “Jordan” lettering on the front and “XIX” printed on the back. In a further nod to the silhouette’s sports-car driven design, the soles are equipped with shank plates that mimic the ventilation systems found in those machine’s engines.
This colorway is capped off with foam midsoles done in white and rubber outsoles painted black.

]]>Tinker Hatfield’s Air Jordan 3 was first released in 1988, and with it, the masses were introduced to the wonderful world of elephant print. In hopes of getting Michael Jordan to stay with Nike, the then-green designer was tasked with granting his wishes for the third signature model – he wanted something that was mid-cut, had soft leather, and was durable enough to handle the rigors of a full NBA season.
With those specifications met, Hatfield tinkered around with additional materials and settled on the now-iconic elephant print to add some lifestyle sophistication to the performance model. All four of the model’s original colorways featured the animalistic embossed leather at the mudguards and heel panels.
Now, more than 30 years after the silhouette’s initial launch, Jordan Brand is bringing back the original “Black Cement” Air Jordan 3 with a new Sahara-tinted twist.
The upcoming Air Jordan 3 “Desert Elephant” features a tumbled leather upper done in black, with luxe brown leather mudguards and heel panels, which are lightly textured to mimic the original elephant print. Perforated suede done in a light “Fossil Stone” hue accents the panels around the eyestays and ankle collars.
While earth tones make up the majority of the palette, bright “Rush Orange” hits arrive at the lowermost eyestays, tongue lining, and the tongue’s embroidered Jumpman logo to liven things up. Additional branding includes a rubberized Jumpman logo at the sneaker’s TPU heel tab.
Jordan Brand opts for a “Sail” foam midsole to compliment the neutral base – it features black accents around the heel portion. Rubber outsoles done in “Fossil Stone” finish things off.

]]>I was in the 8th grade when my father graciously drove my friend and me before school to a local retailer where we stood in line for the latest Air Jordan release, the Black and Red 12’s. While it was 24 years ago, I still remember it like it was yesterday. The thrill of skipping the first period to cop the latest release was everything back then. To be able to rock ‘em at school on the day they released meant two things. One, you were pretty cool and two so were your parents. While the Air Jordan 12 “Utility” reminds me of my original pair of 12’s it certainly has a mix of upgraded and recycled materials.
Coated in All-Black, the Air Jordan 12 Retro Utility boasts a bold look. The uppers are comprised of Black tumbled leather highlighted by the famous vertical stitching the 12’s are known for, also in Black. Black Suede panels extend back from the toe on both the outside and inside of the pair. The rubber tag that reads JUMPMAN is also Black with Bright Crimson piping giving just about the only pop of color on the entire shoe. The midsole and sole are a crazy combination of what appears to be a reptile skin-like pattern for the midsole and recycled materials known as Nike Grind for the sole. Finishing off the pair, we’ve got a Black mesh tongue featuring the Jumpman logo in Black with an underlay of Bright Crimson and Black pull tabs on the heel with another stealth Jumpman symbol also in Black. Overall this pair looks extremely clean and allows the premium materials to do all the talking.
The Air Jordan Retro 12 Utility releases Saturday, August 21st in men’s sizing for $190. With the rise in popularity of the 12’s combined with it being a true basketball shoe and with the addition of Nike Grind recycled materials, these will not last long! Spike Lee turned my dream to reality by casting one of my favorite actors and players to play father and son in the basketball cult classic, “He Got Game”. Like most classic colorways, sneakerheads worldwide work tirelessly around the globe to get their hands on a pair of history. Now, you can get a kick out of seeing things on the flip-side.
Brand Jordan has ‘reversed’ color blocking to give fans a fun variation to an iconic sneaker design. Upgrades to the Jumpman logo tongue shifted in design layout and fabric. Even the fish eye emblem is Crimson Red to match the tongue. Leather is still the choice for it’s upper, while the White on the midsole gives a mechanical shimmer that is captivating to the eye. Jordan did a great job at paying homage, all the while adding another cool colorway to the collection.
After successfully partnering with Jordan Brand twice before on the Air Jordan 1 and 5, the Paris-based football club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is back again with another Jordan sneaker collaboration. This time, the duo has chosen the Air Jordan 4 as the sneaker of choice. Contrary to their previous collabs, which were were both black, this time around the club decided to produce a light colored color combination that I personally think is incredibly clean. This release has a good chance of ending up in my daily rotation (that is of course if I can get my hands on a pair). Alright, enough with the love affair, let's dive into the sneaker.
I wouldn’t normally start with the midsole, but when you’re talking about the 4’s, it’s all about the midsole in my opinion, and these midsoles show off a very clean mix of Black, White and Bordeaux. Something about this color combination really makes this pair stand out. The uppers are comprised of premium White tumbled leather and are contrasted by the smooth grey suede toe box which immediately bring back great memories of the Military Blue IV’s. Just above the toe box you’ll find a black woven label with “PANAME” stitched in White which is the popular nickname among youth used for the suburbs of Paris.
As you continue to move up the shoe, the “cage” is also in White with Black backing. Bordeaux is the color of choice for both lace holders with Black used for the ankle extender. The classic Jumpman logo in White with “Flight” underneath in Bordeaux is sewn in via a Black patch on the White tongue that is piped in Bordeaux. Moving to the rear of the shoe, a Black rubber circle features PARIS Saint-Germain and the Jumpman logo in White atop a Bordeaux pull tab.
There is no doubt that Michael Jordan is a competitor. During his time in the NBA, there are plenty of stories that confirm his winning drive and competitive spirit. For example, in 1997 when he dropped 38 points while sick as a dog with the flu. Or the fact that he’d walk by the visitor’s locker room smoking a cigar and asking the opposing team’s players, “Who’s going to check me tonight?” simply to get inside their heads. Finally, if you still need to be convinced, just ask him to show you his NBA championship rings. He’ll have to show you both hands as his six total rings won’t fit on just one. Of course, you can’t be as fierce of a competitor as Jordan without one thing. Rivals. Which, is the inspiration behind the latest colorway of the Women’s Air Jordan 2 Retro.
A lively mix of colors is used on this latest retro which pays respect to Jordan’s most notable NBA teams in his rival Rolodex. Featuring patent leather, suede, and pebbled leather, the pair doesn’t lack in material selections either. The patent leather toe caps are either green or red (Celtics and Blazers) which lead to an oversized pebbled leather toe box design that sport both orange and yellow (Knicks and Lakers). As you make your way back to the suede overlays, you’ll find the same Lakers nod on one foot and Knicks on the other, but in purple and blue. In the same colors as the toe caps, the outside ankles show off a flashy quilted-like stitched pattern while the insides sport a jersey mesh look. Heel supports in black rubber complete the look, and while I can’t confirm this, I personally like to think this is a nod to another strong Jordan rival, the NBA refs. Perforated leather is used on the tongues and again we find the Lakers and Knicks tribute with a purple tongue and yellow wings logo on one foot and bluetongue and orange logo on the opposite.
If you are looking for a vibrant punch to your sneaker rotation, these are a must-have. Not only are they colorful but also come soaked in the rich history of one of the greatest players to ever step foot on the hardwoods.
Winter is a blistering cold season that makes people want to wear dark hues to match its’ frigid temperatures. So when Spring decides to rear its beautiful head, everyone is ready to pull out the white and vibrant colors. While temperatures are beginning to warm up, so is the anticipation for another Retro Air Jordan 5 release for Mj enthusiasts to add to their collections.
Brand Jordan has taken the term, “stroke of genius” literally with the artistic colorway of the retro Air Jordan 5 silhouette. The oh-so fitting name “Easter” is expressed all over the upper. Similar to a blank canvas, the upper is all white. Countless amounts of pink & purple painted dots covering the toe tip, vamp, mudguard, and heel counter. The quarter and eyelets follow the colorless trend, along with the rubber outsole. A fiery red flare on the midsole is accented in a laser crimson, while the rectangular ‘Air’ bubble that’ll make you feel like you’re walking on clouds. MJ’s iconic ‘Jumpman’ logo is embroidered on the tongue and mustache. The collar lining is voltage purple, with the name ‘Jordan’ stitched upside down inside of the tongue.
In recent memory, sweatsuits and joggers have managed to place its neck on the clothing industry. With its versatile design layouts and comfortable feel, it seems as if the relax wave is here to stay. All the while, a notorious denim brand is looking to once again reclaim their spot in the culture.
The dazzling denim upper would have a countryside square dancer tearing up after seeing this shoe. A bold blue outlines the signature Retro 6 border, while the light blue covers the rest of the midsole. Accents of Black/White tread soles are featured, while a cool tongue laced in leather gives added luxury to the silhouette.
